Name: Nieve Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of January 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 17 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster homeSpecial adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.Nieve is Looking For: His forever home! Nieve is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. His experience with the world has been very limited and he hasn't seen nearly enough of it. He is eager to get his fresh start with his own humans in the DC area - he's eager to explore his new area on sniffy walks and adventures! But you know what he wants most of all? To know he's safe and loved, where he belongs. In exchange he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Nieve is absolutely melting hearts in his foster home. He's come out of his shell and grows more confident every day. This sweet little guy adores his foster dog siblings, loves to play, and is happiest when he's cuddled up with them for naps. He's curious and charming, following his people from room to room just to see what they're up to, then happily settling back in. Nieve sleeps through the night in his crate and is a total cuddle bug who can't get enough love-his cuteness is impossible to resist! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
