Hi! I'm Danny Plankton, but my friends just call me Danny. I'm a handsome shepherd mix with a pretty cool coat and a heart that's just as big as I am. I'm what you might call a goofy gentleman. I look like a big, confident dog, but inside I'm still a bit of a teenager figuring things out. Most of the time I'm pretty normal... until I get really excited. Then my brain takes a quick vacation and I might do a little happy awkward dance while I figure out what to do with all that excitement. Don't worry though-I always recover quickly! When you get home, I'll definitely let you know I missed you. Expect a few dramatic yowls and groans to tell you all about my day. If I'm really happy to see you, I might gently wrap my mouth around your arm in the softest "I love you!" hug. I promise I'm very gentle about it. I love other dogs and always hope they want to play with me. Because I'm tall, I might seem like I'm coming on strong at first, but really I'm just curious and ready to make a new friend. With proper introductions, I get along great and can even bring out the playful side in shy pups-especially my socially awkward foster buddy. Even though I'm a big guy, sometimes I get a little shy if things get too exciting. When that happens, I like to take a quick break and reset. Later in the evening, once the day winds down, I'm actually a pretty great cuddler. I'm happy to relax near you-especially if it's on the bedroom floor at night. Some of my favorite things include bones, tough chew toys, and zooming around the yard. I really love having a fenced yard where I can run, explore, and occasionally bark at a passing dog just to say hello. After I get my zoomies out, I'm perfectly happy laying outside in the cool air watching the world go by. I'm house-trained and only go potty outside (I even like to use the same spot in the yard-very organized, right?). I know commands like "sit," "outside," and "kennel," and I'm working on learning even more because I'm a pretty quick study when treats are involved. I'm crate trained during the day, and if you leave me a good chew toy, I'll happily hang out there until you get home. I ride well in the car, I'm great during bath time, and I'm not much of a barker inside the house. I do best with daily playtime and space to run, and I'd love a dog friend-or at least a human who enjoys my playful side. If you're looking for a sweet, gentle, slightly goofy best friend who will make you laugh, greet you like you're the most important person in the world, and then curl up nearby for a quiet evening... I think we might be perfect for each other. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter's expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***
