NYLA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Nyla and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (3/8) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Rockville (5154 Nicholson Ln, Kensington, MD 20895)! Name: Nyla Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix Best Guess for Age: 7 years as of January 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 9.4 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Nyla is Looking For: Her forever home! Nyla is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. She's eager to get her fresh start with her own humans in the DC area. See, you know what she wants most of all? To know she's safe and loved, where she belongs. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see her down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: "Nyla is such a loving pup! When I sit on the sofa, she jumps over to me and is all about snuggles. She loves to be right next to my lap, her head resting on my leg - does not want to be right on my lap, and she'll sprawl out and beg for belly rubs. If I'm walking around, she's right there, trotting behind me and wanting to be with me. While I work, though, she is content to curl up on the sofa. She gets along well with my two dogs - they all have mild interest in each other and coexist peacefully. She was confident in my home from the time she arrived, happily sniffing around. She's fed in her crate and stays there overnight and when I'm out of the house. But her favorite place is definitely the sofa - she chooses that every time. And she loves her meals and treats!Nyla loves her walkies! She didn't have much experience on leash her entire life and is making up for lost time. She enjoys going out and seeing everything - she's curious about other dogs, not reactive to city noises, and just a pleasure to watch as she explores her new environment. She's such a loving and calm older pup who has so much affection to give her humans. Her family and she will be very lucky to have each other." Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.
